A short account of the life and achievements of one of the great figures of history, this volume also serves as an excellent introduction to one of the world’s major religions. Written with objectivity, the book opens with a background chapter on the birth and early life of the Prophet in Mecca. Dr. Watt tells of Muhammad’s struggle to make his way as an untrained orphan in the city’s commercial world, and his call to prophethood as a result of visions.

Early Sources For Prophet Muhammad’s Biography (H/B)
In ‘Early Sources for Prophet Muhammad’s Biography’, Dr. Muhammad Saeed Mitwally aims to prove that applying Western methods of critical analysis to the available Muslim sources can take us back to early, reliable information about the Prophet (sa).
Early Western biographies of the Prophet of Islam (sa) were largely based upon the Qur’an, as well as upon the late Muslim sources dating from the sixteenth century. After the publication of Goldziher’s Muhammedanische Studien in 1890, the reliability of Muslim sources became controversial. This stance was intensified by the publication of Schacht’s The Origins of Muhammadan Jurisprudence, in which he claimed that none of the Hadith literature is authentic. In this book, Dr. Muhammad Saeed Mitwally successfully challenges some of the problems raised by the pessimistic attitude.
Students of Hadith will find this study thought-provoking and informative.

Alternative Sociologies Of Religion: Through Non-Western Eyes
Sociology has long used Western Christianity as a model for all religious life. As a result, the field has tended to highlight aspects of religion that Christians find important, such as religious beliefs and formal organizations, while paying less attention to other elements. Rather than simply criticizing such limitations, James V. Spickard imagines what the sociology of religion would look like had it arisen in three non-Western societies. What aspects of religion would scholars see more clearly if they had been raised in Confucian China? What could they learn about religion from Ibn Khaldun, the famed 14th century Arab scholar? What would they better understand, had they been born Navajo, whose traditional religion certainly does not revolve around beliefs and organizations?
Through these thought experiments, Spickard shows how non-Western ideas understand some aspects of religions―even of Western religions―better than does standard sociology. The volume shows how non-Western frameworks can shed new light on several different dimensions of religious life, including the question of who maintains religious communities, the relationships between religion and ethnicity as sources of social ties, and the role of embodied experience in religious rituals. These approaches reveal central aspects of contemporary religions that the dominant way of doing sociology fails to notice. Each approach also provides investigators with new theoretical resources to guide them deeper into their subjects. The volume makes a compelling case for adopting a global perspective in the social sciences.

God’s Problem: How the Bible Fails to Answer Our Most Important Question–Why We Suffer
In times of questioning and despair, people often quote the Bible to provide answers. Surprisingly, though, the Bible does not have one answer but many “answers” that often contradict one another. Consider these competing explanations for suffering put forth by various biblical writers:
The prophets: suffering is a punishment for sin
The book of Job, which offers two different answers: suffering is a test, and you will be rewarded later for passing it; and suffering is beyond comprehension, since we are just human beings and God, after all, is God

Manufacturing of Halal Pharmaceuticals (P/B)
This book aims to cover the fundamental aspects of pharmaceutical manufacturing from the Islamic worldview to inspire students that whatever they do including very mundane routine work such as checking pH can be an ‘ibādah – if they work within the sphere of Islamic teachings and in shā’ Allah all the time and effort will be rewarded by Allah SWT. The first chapter describes the Islamic perspectives towards the safeguarding of life vis-à-vis the use of medicines or pharmaceuticals and can be considered as an overview for the Islamic manufacturing practices. Although this book is about the manufacturing of pharmaceuticals, other industries may benefit from the discourse and examples given. As much as possible, processes and regulations are described in the book so that it covers the syllabus of industrial pharmacy for undergraduate use and still can be referred for postgraduate studies.
Why Women are Accepting Islam (H/B)
This book is a compilation of the numerous narratives about the lives, experiences and previous beliefs as well as Islamic impressions and reasons of different lucky women, belonging to all walks of life, as to why they reverted to Islam. Darussalam has already published one book from the same compiler on the same focus that was very much appreciated by the readers. We hope this study will help those non-Muslims women whose concepts are not clear about Islam, and those people who are working in Da’wah field.
The Crusades P/B
In the new narrative of history, the story of the crusades (1095-1291) has been altogether transformed. we thus hear that the Christian crusades were only a response to Muslim aggression, that the stories of crusader atrocities were exaggerated, that the Muslims acted in an equally brutal manner. We hear that legendary Muslim figures such as Salah Eddin, Zangi, Baybars,Etc, were murderous , cunning, scheming leaders and that the Mongol leaders such as Genghis Khan and Hulagu, who between them slaughtered millions of Muslims during the crusades, were great men with great vision. We are told that the Muslims always obtained their victories by fighting small forces of crusader armies and that the crusades brought great military and civilian skills to the Muslim world, and so it goes on. It is these fallacies and countless others, which are found in the new teaching and writing of crusades, that this book unravels and counters. This book also tells the full story of the crusades by relying on both Islamic and Christian sources, old and new. Whilst retaining the academic and scientific approach, it also adopts a style accessible to all.

The language level is easy to understand and it targets the students of Elementary school. Although everyone else is free to read it. The prophets were all Allah’s messengers, and they were the perfect example of what had to be offered in order to maximize the message of Allah. So why not learn from them, and make our world a better place?
Patience and Perseverance (P/B)
Sulayman ibn Qasim said, “The reward of every deed is known except for patience, for Allah Almighty Said: ‘Indeed, those who endure patiently will be given their reward in full without limit.’ [Al-Zumar, 10]
The attribute of patience is less about the ability to sit tight and wait out any adversity or misfortune, and more about holding good etiquette and Islamic propriety while waiting. This includes persevering throughout the ordeal, not complaining about one’s condition (except to Allah) and recognising that Allah’s wisdom and decree necessitate holding good positive thoughts about Him.
Muharramat: Forbidden Matters Some People Take Lightly
Some Muslims who are either ignorant or of weak faith still commit many acts which Allah never allowed. Ignorance is not an excuse for doing something wrong or illegal, hence it is important to make an effort to learn what these muharramât or forbidden acts are, in order to avoid ever committing them. The author, Shaykh Muhammad Sâlih al-Munajjid, explains many of the forbidden acts that have to do with calling on human beings and things other than Allah, worshipping the dead and circumambulating their graves, invoking prophets and the dead, magic, fortune-telling, believing in the power of astrologists and planets and other acts that go against the Islamic creed of monotheism (tawheed). As such, this book of prohibitions regarding beliefs and acts of worship is a helpful resource for Muslims, if they are really practicing Islam and want to avoid committing great sins.
