“Who is the author of the Qur’an?” On this subject scholars have flagrantly contradicted each other. This work attempts to make a critical review of the major ‘authorship’ theories by pressing into service logical arguments, historical evidence, textual analysis and scientific data. Sheikh ibn Uthaymeen, was a scholar, jurist, and Mufti. He was born in 1929 in Saudi Arabia. He memorised the Quran and studied other books at the age of 14 at the hands of his grandfather and other prominent scholars.
Sheikh ibn Uthaymeen is considered one of the most pre-eminent scholars of the 20th century. For more than 50 years, he worked hard for the sake of teaching, preaching, lecturing, and guiding people to worship Allah. He has authored more than 40 books in different Islamic sciences. He passed away in 2001 at the age of 74 and was buried in Mecca.
Sheikh ibn Uthaymeen was a highly significant scholar whose Islamic rulings are followed by a large number of Muslims worldwide. He played a prominent role in expanding the principals of Islamic monotheism and in explaining perplexed issues in the Islamic jurisprudence. Yet when fear exceeds its proper boundary, it gives rise to hopelessness and despair, which is equally blameworthy. The attribute of fear therefore, is not the end goal itself, but a means towards a successful end. ‘Al-Khawf ‘ is from the smaller works of Imam Ibn Qudamah, who is better known for authoring major authoritative treatises of Hanbali jurisprudence and doctrine. In this short book, he brings disquieting realities of fearing Allah in a unique perspective; elucidating some profound insight into the topic, its reality and merits, types and levels and cures that bring about fear. It also discusses causes that lead to a bad ending for people on this earth, while taking rooted examples from the lives of the fearful ones from among the Angels,Prophets and our righteous predecessors.
